Sozo

We're looking at Salvation, and the things Jesus does #outside of us.

What can we expect Jesus to do for us, outside of ourselves as Sozo (Salvation). Another meaning of the word Sozo (Salvation) is to "rescue from Danger". Jesus Rescues. Most Salvation stories begin this way, a cry for help. Through testimonies from believers we can conclude that Jesus not only rescues, he also changes circumstances.

It is in this changing of our circumstances that we begin to discern Jesus to be God, it's hidden in the Scriptures. Let's look first at the Apostles and their experience with the Lord. Once while on a boating trip they had experienced a storm. Jesus stills the storm as described in the Scriptures. "Later that night, the boat was in the middle of the lake, and he was alone on land. He saw the disciples straining at the oars, because the wind was against them. Shortly before dawn he went out to them, walking on the lake. He was about to pass by them, but when they saw him walking on the lake, they thought he was a ghost. They cried out, because they all saw him and were terrified. Immediately he spoke to them and said, “Take courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.” Then he climbed into the boat with them, and the wind died down. They were completely amazed."

(Mark 6:47-51)

Jesus got in and the storm disappeared. It's a little stranger in John's account. 'But he said to them, “It is I; don’t be afraid.”Then they were willing to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat reached the shore where they were heading.' (John 6:20-21)

The emphasis here is on the fact that "the boat reached the shore immediately". How? Plainly speaking, their circumstances changed. He brought them out safely from a situation fraught with mortal danger. He is still doing it, Today. #Witness
