Blinding Lights

There's nothing as annoying as driving in front of a person who uses the full blare of lights to drive. It's technically blinding. If you already have poor eyesight, it could make situations dangerous. Some drivers know better, but some are just simply ignorant.

While some believers are mature, others are like blinding lights. They've received salvation and are aware of it. They understand the necessity of the Holy Spirit. Through that same spirit, they've come to know that the Bible says far more than meets the naked eye. Then they sit down and do nothing.

It's an attitude Jesus rebukes: Matthew 25:26 (MSG). "The master was furious. 'That's a terrible way to live! It's criminal to live cautiously like that! If you knew I was after the best, why did you do less than the least?"

We normally see this verse and consider it to be about spiritual gifts only, but sometimes natural gifts are even more spiritual. As a sign that we have made progress in the faith, we are meant to use our gifts, natural and spiritual, to the glory of God.

Binding lights will confuse you. Why is that? They've never put anything they have to practice. They're in 'camp survival'. Of course, they are good Christians and give, but that's where it ends. Every conversation will tilt towards playing it safe. You'll end up uncertain about what you had already believed.

Binding Lights will share a beautiful revelation with you about some deep thing in the Bible, and it's probably true. But, they don't do it. It has no practical relevance to their individual lives. They know this God who is constantly dropping beautiful revelations to no meaningful conclusions.

Blinding lights don't rock the boat. Conflict will happen in christian community, and when handled right, it will always lead to deeper, more meaningful relationships. Blinding lights see a disruption in their beautiful revelation of church, so they smoothen feathers out. When conflict is not resolved because the issue is not addressed, the fellowship remains superficial. Gossip thrives and trust withers. Without trust, the Spirit of God is unable to do his full work in our lives.
