It's not about us, it's about God.
Who is God?
In the Scriptures, many names are attributed to God. Each of these names gives us an insight into the nature and character of God. Even more names are attributed to Jesus Christ.
Today, I'd like to focus on one name, Shaddai El (Almighty God), that's the name of the God that appears unto Abraham, taken directly from Genesis 17:1.
Why's this name significant? Right after the Biblical flood, men had begun to gather. It was a very natural occurrence, God ignores this gathering, even resisting it.
In the very next chapter, Shaddai El calls Abram and promises to build him into a nation. Why would God abandon a natural gathering and build an artificial one (leaving everything behind) through this one person?
It was a foretaste of the Grace of God and how He was going to operate with Mankind, that "God being there for us," as opposed to anything we can do by ourselves. In a sense, we could call it a model. That's why Abraham is so important.
Next, we see Shaddai El working through 3 generations doing everything that is necessary to establish this nation. Giving protection, forging alliances, instituting worship, and providing breakthrough ideas. He even shows up for lunch in physical form.
Having done all these and so much more, today we put our confidence in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Even in the midst of all the crisis today, that's what it's still all about. God. Believing that through God, all the Nations of the earth shall be blessed. Just like He told Abraham.
