Paradise is not automatic

"No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize." (1 Corinthians 9:27)

The Apostle Paul was mindful of a world to come. To ensure that he's not disqualified for it, he took extraordinary steps of discipline.

What can disqualify us?

It helps to know that upon receiving forgiveness of sin, our relationship with God is not regulated by laws, or any law for that matter.

The Scriptures speak of a sin that leads to death:

If you see any brother or sister commit a sin that does not lead to death, you should pray and God will give them life. I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that you should pray about that.

( 1 John 5:16)

This sin, that can cause us to loose eternal salvation, is conscious and willing idolatry
