Planned for God's pleasure

God wired us for pleasure, and it's good.
During my early days, at one of the churches I'd learned discipleship, I was sharing the Gospel with a gentleman in NYC. In the midst of our conversation, he replied, "First, the heart seeks pleasure."
That man had a soul and was aware of it. We experience pleasure through the five senses, and that's because we have souls. Not just mind, will, and emotions, but also heart, affection, and pedigree. The greatest lie that the enemy has told the Church is about our souls. He has used a false message, a false Gospel, to confuse the people of God.
Satan has lied to us about our souls. I'm amazed by how this extremely obvious truth slips by everything. Not considering this aspect of our beings, we seem incomplete. Since we ignore our souls, we don't know who we are and limp through life with faulty metaphors. It's supposed to be spiritual, but it's not.
Our life metaphor is expressed by what we do with our souls. Here's the funny thing: every time we do anything, we proclaim, "This is what I believe." And it's a function of our souls.
Jesus understood this and told us the true worth of our souls:
"What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?"
On the opposite end of a scale that carries the whole world is one human soul, and it evens out. According to the Scriptures, when we have understood true faith, we realize our souls:
"For you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls."
There's no Gospel, apart from the human soul, anchored in Christ. Knowing this prepares us to serve God as salt on the earth and light to this world.
